Barbara aka “Barbie”

Barbara, a bearded dragon affectionately nicknamed Barbie, had only been in her owner’s care for three weeks before coming to BPAS. Upon her adoption, the only thing she knew about Barbie was that she’d never had any supplemental lighting, she liked lettuce, she was young, and she’d previously laid eggs. Other than that, Barbie’s history was a mystery. After arriving at BPAS, Barbie was quarantined for 30 days where she was treated for a parasitic infection. Vet staff monitored her closely and noticed how anxious she was. Radiographs confirmed her abdomen was filled with eggs and she needed a place to lay them. Barbie ended up laying 28 unfertilized eggs! The caregivers are enjoying getting to know Barbie and her unique personality. She’s quite the character! She inhales her salads and is the best cricket hunter BPAS has ever had!
