Myles

Myles, a young long-tailed macaque was found after his private owner passed away in the home. No one in this person’s life knew that Myles existed before law enforcement arrived. He had been in the home for five days, tied to a bookcase with a leash locked three times around his midsection, deprived of food, water and any resemblance of comfort. Myles was incredibly malnourished and in a state of fear upon their arrival.

Our animal welfare partners safely removed Myles from the home, and he arrived at Black Pine in November 2025.

Since his arrival, Myles has received crucial veterinary and behavioral care and he has settled into Sanctuary life beautifully. He has been paired with fellow macaque, Leo!

Fun facts about Myles!

• There is not a single food Myles won’t eat! Brussell sprouts? Delicious. Kale? Give me more.
• He is absolutely fearless! He doesn’t think twice about doing a long jump from perch to perch or jumping down from a high platform, and he (almost) always sticks the landing.
• Myles may be teeny tiny, but that doesn’t stop him from shaking perches to show the other monkeys just how big and strong he is!
